TYPES OF WALKS

Would you like to walk up a hill for the first time? Fancy bagging one of Scotland’s 282 Munros? Or do you just want to get out into the great outdoors and Scottish Upland areas to see what nature has to offer? The following are a variety of walks to suit all levels of experience. All walks will be at relaxed pace but length of days will vary

NAVIGATION days are also available. If you would like to gain the confidence to read maps and navigate around the hills there are group and bespoke days available throughout the season

All walks/courses are 6 persons max and no under 18’s I’m afraid. They will also be ‘open group’ unless you choose a bespoke walk/course

Have a look at the options below and if you are interested in proceeding, head to the EVENT CALENDAR in the MENU top right and check out the available dates!

EASY

Shorter day, between 2-4 hours and Pentland’s based. Ideal for beginners. Don’t worry about being slow up hills. Group size will be no more than 6 and short breaks will be built in. This is a good opportunity to increase your confidence, build some skills and meet some other like-minded outdoor lovers!

MODERATE

Some Pentland based walks such as Three Peaks or a Munro or Corbett. A Munro is a mountain 3000 feet (914 metres) and above and a Corbett is a mountain between 2500 feet (760 metres) and 2999 feet.   Some of these can be accessed from higher roads such as at Glenshee or Cairngorm Ski Centres where the car parks are at a height of over 600 metres. A lovely leg up!

STRENUOUS/VERY STRENUOUS

Will involve a Munro or Corbett without the considerable height gain of the ‘moderate’ section to the left. Multi - Munro or Corbett combos would be considered ‘very strenuous’. An example would be Beinn a Ghlo which is 3 Munros and a 14 mile walk

WILD WEDNESDAY!

Ideal for those on shifts or retired. Wee early start to get a cheeky mountain day out in the middle of the week and avoid the masses! Sometimes, though not always, these will be well away from the central belt and a bit remote as the name suggests!

WOMEN ONLY DAY

Your choice. If you would prefer a women only day either solo or with a group of friends that are up for it, then let me know

BESPOKE WALKS/NAVIGATION

Arrange a walk of your choice, on your own or with a group of people (max 6) that you know. Choose a Munro that you’ve always wanted to do, or get personal navigation tuition through the mountains to increase your confidence

INTRODUCTION TO NAVIGATION

No experience required. Just eagerness and enthusiasm to learn how to safely get yourself in, up and down the hills safely, and confidently.

The day will include looking at:

Maps, scales & symbols

Terrain features & contours

Emergency procedures
