In each walk with nature you receive far more than you seek
— John Muir

Hello there! I am a retired paramedic who began hill/mountain walking, mostly in the Scottish Highlands, over 30 years ago. From my first mountain, when I tentatively peered over the top and saw the stunning views in every direction, I was completely and utterly hooked! These experiences have only got better and better as the last 30 years have gone by. Sleeping under canvas adds another dimension as the beautiful light of sunrise and sunset paints orange, yellow and red hues over the mountains, a truly amazing spectacle! A year or so ago, I decided it was time to set about achieving a mountain leader qualification so I could share those experiences with others. This journey taught me so much more about the mountain environment and it was an absolute pleasure to learn whilst walking through the Scottish mountains. I am over 60 years of age now and whilst the years of bounding up and running down the hills are perhaps in the rear view mirror, I take delight in having a more relaxed pace whilst appreciating all aspects of nature around me. Spotting the purple saxifrage alpine flower or trying to pick out the mountain hare between the speckled summit rocks enhances the experience and memory of the day. It’s always good to slow down, lift your eyes and pay attention to the beauty around you!

Recent evidence suggests that spending time in nature promotes well-being in so many ways and travelling in mountains is an ideal way to harness the power of outside medicine.

Why choose me?

If you come away from a walk with me feeling rejuvenated, chilled out, enthused and with a greater appreciation of nature than you had before you put your boots on, then I’ll have done my job and I’ll also be delighted ☺️
